OCEAN CITY, Md. -- Sunny skies and warm weather blessed the first day of Springfest. The four-day event presents a ton of fun, good food and drinks, plus a window of opportunity for local businesses.
Live music and the sweet aroma of food hitting the grill can only mean one thing: Springfest has arrived.
"Amazing, it's amazing," said Tessa, a six-year-old who had just finished a beautiful rock painting at the arts and crafts station.
The event offers something for everyone.
"All the music and the people and the food," said Gerald Ballew.
However, the business opportunity is why Brian Shofi, co-owner of the Grateful Grub Food Truck, is so excited about the upcoming weekend.
"It's awesome for the resume, it's great to be in the community, to be able to get exposed to Ocean City's finest," said Shofi. "It's a great opportunity for us to get up and coming shows and future shows, just based on the portfolio and the ability to be here."
Shofi's business relies solely on the truck. There is no brick-and-mortar location. So, he said every order jotted down doesn't just translate to shrimp tacos or a salad bowl. It can open the door for a future venture.
"Just between the community and the folks that are involved running things, it just rolls along like wildfire," said Shofi.
The 34th annual Springfest runs through this weekend.
The festival will be open from 10:00 a.m. unto 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25th, and Saturday, April 26th
On Sunday, April 27th, it will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
