SALISBURY, MD - A Wicomico County jury has convicted a 59-year-old man on multiple charges including sexual abuse of a minor and rape in the second degree for abuse of a child under 11 in his care from 2018 through 2021.
According to the Wicomico County State’s Attorney, Robert Hill Jr. was found guilty yesterday, October 5th, on two counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor, two counts of Rape in the Second Degree, three counts of Sexual Offense in the Third Degree, three counts of Sexual Offense in the Fourth Degree, and four counts of Assault in the Second Degree.
Hill’s trial lasted two days in the Circuit Court for Wicomico County.
Sentencing will be deferred until a mandatory pre-sentence investigation and mental health assessment, according to the State’s Attorney Jamie Dykes.
“Sexual violence perpetrated against children is the worst betrayal of trust,” said Dykes. “In its wake it leaves survivors confused and lost, often incapable of reporting the abuse until years later. In this case, evidence was presented of this Defendant’s long-standing history of inflicting sexual abuse against minors. The testimony of the survivors at trial was an extraordinary display of courage and resolve, and the jury’s thoughtful verdict will ensure that justice is served.”
