With the long-awaited dredging project of the Little Assawoman Bay beginning on Monday, October 14th, WBOC spoke with neighbors who said they are excited to see the project beginning. Town officials said the project has been in the works for almost a decade.

The Sussex County Council is agreeing to contribute $800,000 in funding toward dredging in the north and south channels leading to the Little Assawoman Bay.

Plans for dredging in the north and south channels of the Little Assawoman Bay are underway, but the Town of Fenwick Island is asking for one last show of support to push the process forward. 

The Delaware Department of Transportation is requesting public insight for its Rt. 54 Bridge Replacement Project in Fenwick. 

The Fenwick Island Town Council recently approved contracts from the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that support the town's efforts to begin a dredging project in parts of Little Assawoman Bay.

The Delaware Center for the Inland Bays (CIB) and the Delaware Sea Grant College Program released a report Tuesday that details the first-ever assessment of the Delaware Inland Bays' economic value.
