The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) plans to offer training to volunteers who want to help protect the First State’s endangered and threatened beach-nesting birds. 

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control will reopen The Point at Cape Henlopen State Park, including a stretch of ocean beach and dunes, and a half-mile along the bay shoreline on Thursday, Sept. 1. The bayside beach will remain closed until Oct. 1 for use by shorebirds migrating south for the winter. 

Volunteers wanting to help protect Delaware’s beach-nesting birds are invited to join a training session held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 7 at the Cape Henlopen State Park Officers Club (Youth Camp III) Mess Hall located at 15099 Cape Henlopen Drive in Lewes.
