A group of Ocean City homeowners is launching a new petition aimed at overturning a town decision that extended a moratorium on new short-term rental licenses in certain residential zoning districts.

Ocean City’s long-running debate over short-term rentals is back in front of the mayor and council Monday night, as town leaders prepare to vote on whether to keep a pause on new rental licenses in some single-family neighborhoods.

City leaders in Lewes are debating enacting multiple accommodations taxes within the city. 

A new tax may soon impact short-term rentals across Sussex County. At tomorrow’s County Council meeting, officials are expected to discuss an ordinance that could impose a 3% tax on short-term rentals in unincorporated areas, made possible by recent state legislation.
