When you have time off from your daily life, what do you normally do?
Maybe go to the beach or sit poolside with a good book? Well several healthcare professionals from Delmarva are going on a trip not to soak up the sun, but rather help those in need.
Jimmy and Lisa speak with team leader, Veronique Diriker and medical student, Chris Pellegrino, who work with the nonprofit organization, La Merced. They tell us about the philanthropic work they do for children in Nicaragua, and what they’re doing to prepare for their upcoming trip.
La Merced is a nonprofit organization comprised of volunteers, from all walks of life, who have all come together for the common goal of helping our neighbors abroad. The group has been focusing their efforts recently in Nicaragua and hope to produce a long-lasting impact on the access and quality of healthcare.
Both Veronique and Chris will leave for Nicaragua to work with local children for nine days doing everything from providing revolutionary healthcare services to the otherwise cut-off towns, to educating them on modern healthcare practices.
