Restaurants React To The Reopening Of Outdoor Dining

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md.- Expanded outdoor dining and carry out alcohol will be no more in Worcester County.

When the local state of emergency expires on July 1st, the Board of Commissioners say the local executive orders that allowed extra outdoor seating as well as the carry out and delivery of alcoholic beverages will also expire.

Restaurants in unincorporated areas of Worcester County will have a 60 day grace period to get rid of that extra seating. All alcohol license holders will be required to return to pre-pandemic requirements unless an alteration is approved by the Board of License Commissioners.

"Public health remains a top priority of the commissioners, and we owe a huge debt of gratitude to Worcester County Health Department professionals and their partners for working around the clock during the past 15 months to protect public health through education and testing and for their Herculean efforts to place vaccines in arms," Commission President Joe Mitrecic said. "No amount of thanks can convey our gratitude for the sacrifices they made to protect lives and bring us through the pandemic."

All Worcester County offices and facilities, including the recreation center and branch libraries, reopened to the public in May.
