Another blocking pattern is established with an area of low pressure trapped to our west for a few days and will allow for a flow of moisture around the low into our neck of the woods. This blocking pattern will bring rain on and off for much of the day on Tuesday. Some of this rain will be heavy at times over the course of a couple of days along with embedded thunderstorms that will bring the chance of heavier rain bands, lots of lightning, and even some strong gusts of winds. The shower and thunderstorm chances will linger into Wednesday before things will start to taper off Wednesday night as the block begins to break apart. On average, we will pick up on 1-2” of rain across Delmarva, but there are indications that we could easily pick up on several inches of rain in places that see heavy rain and storms consistently for the next few days.
Thursday will be a dry day with highs into the 70s and 80s with a good amount of sunshine. As we approach the weekend and head into Boardwalk Rock shows a chance of showers and storms late in the day on Friday and especially on Saturday with highs into the 80s with a few of us to near 90 degrees. I do believe we need to watch that Saturday threat of showers and storms that could pack a punch. Good news is that a wind shift back off the Atlantic will knock temperatures into the 60s on Sunday at the beach, but it will be mostly sunny. We stay dry into early next week with temperatures most seasonable into mid-week next week.
