FORECAST DISCUSSION

The cold front that brought some strong storms Thursday night, as well as scattered showers and cloudy conditions Friday is crossing Delmarva this evening.
The majority of the rain is over for Delmarva, but as the front transits, there remains a chance for scattered showers and possibly a rumble of thunder Friday evening. The front will depart late Friday and skies will begin clearing early Saturday morning.
High pressure builds in on Saturday, making for a mostly sunny day. However, the pressure gradient between the outgoing front and the incoming high will make for a pretty breezy day on the peninsula.
Winds will generally be from the northwest, and they could gust to 25 mph or more at times.
Small Craft Advisories are up for all of the waters around Delmarva.
Mother's Day is looking very nice, with just a mix of sun and clouds and lighter winds. Temperatures will climb to near 80°F away from the coast.
Monday will be yet another quiet and seasonably warm day.
Longer-range guidance is suggesting that a low pressure system will develop over the Deep South early next week, and could bring another round of rain and thunder to Delmarva in the Tuesday-Wednesday timeframe. Timing and rain intensity is still quite uncertain at this point, so watch this space for updates.
In the long range, temperatures are expected to average above normal, and precipitation above normal for May 16 - May 22.
