FORECAST DISCUSSION

Normal high: 85°F. Normal low: 66°F.

After a wet and wild Thursday evening, we've been treated to a much quieter Friday on Delmarva.

The cold front responsible for Thursday evening's severe weather has sunk to our south, allowing a cooler and drier air mass to overspread Delmarva.

We'll see mainly clear skies Friday evening before clouds increase late, with showers after midnight.

The aforementioned cold front will start to lift back to the north as a warm front Saturday morning.

Saturday could be a bit of a washout, with periods of rain showers on-and-off throughout the day, including with imbedded thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon and evening. 1 to 2 inches of rain could be possible, so there is a threat for flooding, especially given recent rainfall. However, severe weather is not expected.

The pattern will start to settle down on Sunday, with just a few isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms possible.

Then high pressure builds back in for next Monday and Tuesday, which will be mostly sunny and seasonably warm.

Clouds increase Wednesday and Thursday ahead of our next storm system, which right now looks like it will bring showers to the region Thursday night into Friday.

In the long range, temperatures are expected to be above normal, and precipitation above normal for Aug 28 - Sep 3.

In the Tropics: An area of low pressure in the northeastern Atlantic has a low chance of developing tropical characteristics in the next 7 days. It could threaten Portugal and Spain.

A tropical wave in the central Atlantic has a low, 20 percent chance of development in the next 7 days. It is not a threat to the United States at this time.

The Atlantic hurricane season ends on November 30.
