***Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10 p.m. Thursday***

Unsettled and stormy weather is making a return to Delmarva Thursday evening.

As several impulses of energy along a frontal boundary pass over Delmarva, they will tap into plenty of warm, humid air, as well as favorable dynamics for strong to severe thunderstorms Thursday evening.

Storms will start to fire up during the afternoon hours, with the most intense storms expected during the evening hours.

All types of severe weather are possible, including damaging wind gusts, hail, and tornadoes. Any tornado that develops could reach EF-2 strength, with the highest probabilities over the Midshore and Delaware, and lower chances on the Lower Eastern Shore. Frequent lightning is also expected.

Storms could drop rain at rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour or more at times, so flooding in poorly drained areas is possible.

The worst of the thunderstorms will end around 11 p.m. or so, with just lingering showers and rumbles of thunder for the rest of the overnight.

Friday is shaping up to have showers and thunderstorms yet again, although not as strong and widespread as Thursday. Any storms that fire up will be mostly likely in the afternoon and evening.

Saturday could be a bit of a washout, with continued impulses of energy bringing rain and thunderstorms, with the timing looking like all day, including the morning.

The pattern will start to settle down on Sunday, with just a few afternoon and evening thunderstorms possible.

Then high pressure builds back in for next Monday, which will be mostly sunny and seasonably warm.

A low pressure system passing to our south could bring some showers to parts of the Lower Eastern Shore and Accomack County on Tuesday.

In the long range, temperatures are expected to be near normal, and precipitation above normal for Aug 25 - Aug 31.

In the Tropics: An area of low pressure in the northeastern Atlantic has a low chance of developing tropical characteristics in the next 7 days. It could threaten Portugal and Spain.

The Atlantic hurricane season ends on November 30.
