OCEAN CITY, Md. -- Ocean City police report an employee of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church has been charged following an embezzlement investigation.
Police say back in May, police were called to the church located on the 8800 block of Coastal Highway for a theft scheme that church officials believed had been going on for months. When police arrived, church officials identified Teresa M. Kolacz of Berlin as the person behind the theft scheme.
After an investigation with the Worcester County State's Attorney's Office, police found that Kolacz stole over $100,000 from the church beginning in June of 2017. A warrant was approved for Kolacz arrest; police say she turned herself in on July 17th.
Kolacz was charged with theft of $100,00, embezzlement, and 11 counts of forgery. She was released after posting $50,000 bond.
