SALISBURY, Md. - The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration will remain appointment only until further notice.
The agency says under its appointment-only model, it has completed 9 percent more transactions this June compared to June 2019. But customers like Roodly Pierre Louis say despite having an appointment, they were still in the MVA for more than an hour. Louis went to the Salisbury location hoping it would be less busy than other locations.
"We traveled three hours to come here just to find out we're not able to process our paperwork. So technically were just going to have to drive three hours back home, and make another appointment. Right now were looking at September," Pierre Louis said.
On the MVA website several appointments are available in Salisbury for some services like renewing a drivers license. However, other services such as new title and registration are not available until Friday at the earliest and there are no appointments available for this Saturday. For some people, like Cindy Collins, making the appointment was a process.
"The second appointment, I ended up making it in the Walmart parking lot because I needed WiFi to be able to connect to make the appointment. I live in an area that does not have WiFi," Collins said.
The MVA said some locations such as the one in Salisbury are open until 6:30 p.m. every Thursday. The agency also encourages customers to use the MVA mobile bus, which allows for 160 appointments every month in Ocean City.
