LAUREL, Del- Laurel police say officers found more than 1,100 cartons of untaxed cigarettes when they stopped a New York man.
Police said officers on Monday pulled over a Ford pickup truck for traffic violations. They said the driver, 22-year-old Waael Alsaeidi of East Elmhurst, N.Y., was found to be in possession of 1,184 cartons of untaxed cigarettes with a total value of $70,000.
Alsaeidi was arrested on 39 counts of possession of untaxed tobacco products where tax has not been paid and the traffic violation. He is being held in the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a $5,000 secured bond. The cigarettes were seized as evidence.
