Salisbury University Expanding Southern Campus With New Housing Complex

SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury University purchased the Court Plaza and Temple Hill Motel lots back in 2016, but now the university foundation released the first look at a new housing complex on that property.

Salisbury University Foundation Executive Director Jason Curtin says the 8.5 acres will soon be home to three new, five-story housing buildings, serving 750-800 students.

"There's a lot of growth just south of campus so we're really excited about this project coming to fruition and finalize sort of this campus pathway from there to the south end of campus. We see this as you're coming up Route 13 you've really entered Salisbury University's campus, southern gateway," Curtin said.

Curtin says construction on the first of the three buildings should start in October with a completion date slated for August 2021.  The other two buildings should follow, set to open by August 2022.

Curtin says the new complex will eventually replace St. Martin's and Chesapeake dorms.  A small amount of retail spaces will be offered below some of the housing units.

Curtin added that the size of the university is not expected to increase by more than a two-percent growth with the new housing.
