Maryland Food Bank Distributes Food to Wicomico County Families

SALISBURY, Md.- Maryland Food Bank - Eastern Shore held a food distribution event on Thursday to give groceries and fresh produce to families in need.

The event called "It Takes More Day of Service" is a part of the food bank's 40-week statewide campaign. It marks 40 years of the food bank's movement to end hunger throughout Maryland.

"Tonight they're not going to have to worry about what's on their table,"  said Jennifer Small, the regional program director of Maryland Food Bank - Eastern Shore.

The food bank hopes that they will inspire people in the community to work together and give back.

Small says it takes a village to fight against hunger: "It takes so much more than just food to really help the individuals that we are serving. It takes our donors, our network partners, our farmers. It takes our volunteers," she said.

At the end of the event, nearly 300 households and 1,000 people in Wicomico County received food.
