MARDELA SPRINGS, MD - The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office has announced a student brought a gun onto school property at Mardela Middle/High School this morning.

According to the Sheriff’s Office in a Facebook post on Thursday, November 2nd, School Resource Deputies have the suspect in custody and the gun has been confiscated.

On Tuesday afternoon, police confirmed the student is 13-years-old and that the handgun was not loaded. The teen is being held pending his Juvenile Court appearance, police say.

The juvenile has been charged with:

-Possession of a Firearm by Minor

-Disturb School Operations

Police say there is no threat to students or staff at this time and the case is under investigation.
