WICOMICO CO. -- Breeze Airways will offer service to Orlando, FL. from the Salisbury airport starting October 1st, 2025.
Airline officials said non-stop service will be offered twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. Salisbury will be the 71st city the airport has expanded to, according to officials.
“Breeze is all about expanding service to underserved markets, and Salisbury fits this to a tee,” Breeze Airways' CEO David Neeleman said.
"We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Breeze Airways to our airport," Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano said. “This new service, offering a direct flight to Orlando International Airport, brings exciting travel opportunities to our residents and opens new doors for tourism and economic growth in our region."
“The Salisbury Airport is a critical infrastructure hub for my district and a growing regional destination for quick access to the Ocean City beaches and the greater Delmarva,” Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) said. "The addition of this airline service will increase economic activity in our region and better accommodate the travel plans of my constituents.”
The news was made official, at least in person, at the Salisbury Airport on Wednesday morning. A handful of local lawmakers, officials and airport staff gathered in the main terminal, as Wicomico County Council President John Cannon unveiled the airport's newest member.
"This is our newest airline service in Wicomico County," said Cannon, pulling the tarp off a Breeze Airways poster board. "Our newest partners, this is Breeze Airways."
Cannon's announcement garnered plenty of applause, and those loud claps spoke volumes to Wednesday's news.
"It's a huge draw, it'll be very, very popular," said Senator Johnny Mautz.
"It's a wonderful day for us, we've been working on trying to get some additional air service in here for quite a while now, for several years," said Airport Manager Tony Rudy.
Rudy said an $800,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation finally opened the floodgates. The money paid for marketing efforts to attract Breeze Airways to Salisbury, and now that the airline is here, it will help cover start-up costs and provide guaranteed revenue.
In the past, Rudy told WBOC that both aspects are important in getting a new air service to sign on with a smaller airport.
However, more importantly to local officials, the grant translated into an additional airline that will offer direct flights to Orlando and back twice a week.
Bill Chambers, Executive Director of the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce, tells WBOC that this relationship should work both ways.
"There's an opportunity for Ocean City and all of the great amenities that that beach town has, including golf courses, to bring people to Ocean City from Florida," said Chambers. "That's really something we expect to be a part of the mix."
According to Breeze Airways, one-way fares will start at just $59. Based on information gathered from the company's website, that price can go up if you have a carry-on, need to check a bag, or just want a little extra leg room.
