DELAWARE - The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is seeking "ocean connection stories" ahead of Ocean Month in June. Submissions are being accepted through May 15th.
DNREC says they are encouraging Delaware residents to share stories of their connections with the ocean. Kristi Lieske, the Ocean Planner for the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s Division of Climate, Coastal and Energy, says “Whether it’s a childhood fascination with the creatures beneath the surface, the allure of unearthing buried treasure alongside a loved one or how your own livelihood has been shaped by the sea, all stories matter.”
According to the department, the submissions will be gathered into a story catalog for public viewing. Those who submit their stories will also be entered into a raffle to receive a prize pack from DNREC.
There will be submissions specifically selected to be shared on DNREC's social media throughout June (Ocean Month). DNREC says they may also be used as a part of Delaware’s Ocean and Bay Plan.
Submissions are being accepted through May 15th. Guidelines for submissions and how to submit can be found on DNREC's website.
