LEWES, DE– City planning commissioners tabled discussions on the proposed expansion of the Donovan Smith Manufactured Home Community following a public hearing last night.

Officials say the development on Central Avenue currently has 130 units, 90 of which are occupied. A conditional use application looks to add 31 sites, but commissioners argue various code violations need to be addressed first.

The Planning Commission asked the park's owner to remove debris and invasive plant species, confirm the community's electric provider, plan to improve emergency access and conduct soil contamination testing where septic tanks previously sat, before expansion talks can continue.

The conversation was tabled until the Commission's next meeting June 18.
