DOVER, Del. - A Kent County man is facing numerous federal drug charges after investigators say he sold increasingly large quantities of methamphetamine to an undercover detective seven times over several months.
According to a federal criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, Anthony Adams is charged with seven counts of distribution of a controlled substance. Authorities allege the transactions occurred between December 2025 and March 2026.
Court documents say the investigation began in 2025 when the FBI and Delaware State Police began investigating Adams for suspected methamphetamine distribution in Dover. Investigators say a confidential source initially helped arrange a controlled purchase and introduced an undercover Delaware State Police detective to Adams. That introduction allowed the detective to begin arranging alleged drug purchases directly with Adams, according to the affidavit.
Authorities allege the undercover detective subsequently purchased methamphetamine from Adams seven times, with the quantities increasing substantially during the investigation.
The complaint says the first direct purchase involved approximately 14.45 grams of methamphetamine in December of 2025. Investigators say surveillance officers watched Adams leave a Dover residence and meet the undercover detective before a hand-to-hand exchange took place.
A later December transaction allegedly involved 27.57 grams. During another purchase that month, investigators say Adams sold the detective approximately 83.42 grams of methamphetamine and also provided what appeared to be about an ounce of marijuana at no additional cost.
The alleged purchases continued into 2026.
According to the affidavit, the final alleged transaction occurred during the week of March 9. Prosecutors say Adams arranged another purchase with the undercover detective and allegedly provided approximately 468.11 grams of methamphetamine.
In total, the federal government says Adams sold a total of 1,385.41 grams, or just over three pounds, of methamphetamine to the undercover agent over the seven transactions.
Adams is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 2:30 p.m.
