DOVER, DE - Police are investigating the cause of a deadly motorcycle crash.

The Dover Police Department says the crash happened on Sunday, May 11, around 4 a.m., in the area of White Oak Road and Garrison Oak Drive. Police responded to the scene and reportedly found a 58-year-old man who was ejected from the motorcycle, laying in the field off the roadway.

Officers attempted life-saving measures, but he died at the scene. The victim's identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Police say the ensuing investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling westbound on White Oak Road, west of Garrison Oak Drive, when it left the roadway, struck the ditch, and ejected the victim. It is currently unknown what caused the motorcycle to leave the roadway, according to police.

Dover Police are still working to determine if alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. The victim was turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination.
