Mariah Calagione

DELMARVA - The Draper Media Family’s very own Mariah Calagione was recognized for her widespread contributions to community betterment and public service at the 51st Annual Jefferson Awards in New York City last night.

Calagione, from Milton, DE, was one of five recipients of the prestigious Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award for Outstanding Public Service Benefiting Local Communities.

According to Multiplying Good, the organization behind the Jefferson Awards, Calagione was honored with the award for her philanthropy including the founding of the Red Wagon Calagione Family Foundation, a nonprofit that has given nearly $4 million to organizations and neighbors throughout Delaware.

Calagione joined the other four recipients as well as youth and unsung local grassroots heroes who make a profound impact on society during the Manhattan ceremony last night, Multiplying Good said.

“We believe that at the heart of every great community and society are individuals and organizations committed to service. The Jefferson Awards exemplify our core belief that service is not just a noble act but the very fabric that weaves us together as a stronger, more compassionate, and resilient society.” said Benita Fitzgerald Mosley, CEO of Multiplying Good. “Honoring service at the Jefferson Awards isn't just about celebrating individual achievements; it's about recognizing the collective power of giving back, inspiring positive change, and shaping a better world for all.”

Multiplying Good was founded  in 1972 by Sam Beard, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and Senator Robert Taft, Jr. The organization has recognized the extraordinary public service of thousands with its Jefferson Award.

WBOC will have more on Calagione’s achievement in our broadcasts later today. Congratulations from all of us at Draper Media, Mariah!
