OCEAN CITY, M.d - Jellyfish are continuing to swarm the ocean in Ocean City.
Evan horsey is an Assistant Crew Chief for the Ocean City Beach Patrol. He says the number of jellyfish in the ocean changes from day to day.
"Some days it'll be like kind of less, and some days they'll be more, like they'll change during the day," he says. "The jellyfish move with the tide and with the currents. So it's hard to predict exactly what the conditions are going to be."
Lifeguards on the beach carry sting pads to help treat the discomfort of a jellyfish sting.
Ocean City Beach Patrol says if you are insistent on going in the water, there is a good chance you will get stung.
Maria Bochnowitz says her daughter was stung four times this week on their vacation, but they're still having a great time regardless.
"It hasn't ruined the vacation," she says. "We've been going back to the pool more, and the pools are being more crowded.
The Beach Patrol tells us that high water temperature, salinity levels and the lack of a strong current in waves are causing this summer surge of jellyfish.
