ACCOMACK CO., VA.- A reported armed robbery is under investigation in multiple counties.
On Thursday around 8:45 a.m., the Worcester County Sheriff's Office says responding officers arrived to the Advance Auto Part on Linden Avenue in Pocomoke City for a reported strong-arm robbery investigation.
Investigators say the suspects entered the store, assaulted an employee, and left with an undisclosed amount of money. They reportedly sped off, last seen going southbound on US 13.
It was later learned that state police were involved in a car chase with southbound on US 13 with a car matching the suspect vehicle. Eventually, police say the suspect car lost control near the Exmore Hardees, crossed over the median and collided with two other northbound cars. The suspects were ultimately taken into custody.
28 year-old Christopher Orbeta of Chesapeake and 31 year-old Brandon Gibson of Norfolk have been charged with two counts of armed robbery. Additionally, Gibson has been charged with two counts of felony eluding and assault and battery of a law enforcement officer.
Hours before, several armed robberies were reported to both the Northampton and Accomack County Sheriff's Offices.
Around 4:30 a.m., Northampton authorities say they got a report of an armed robbery at the Cape Charles Royal Farms. About an hour later, a second armed robbery was reported at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Exmore, according to police.
Around 7:40 a.m., the Accomack County Sheriff's Office says it received a report of an armed robbery at the Nelsonia Corner Mart, and a second armed robbery at the Temperanceville Corner Mart about 20 minutes later.
The Northampton, Accomack, and Worcester County Sheriff's Offices are asking anyone with information relating to these incidents to contact the respective Sheriff's Office.
