Laurel School District

LAUREL, Del. - Laurel School District has announced schools will be closed on Monday after a shooting that killed one teen and injured two others.

Superintendent Dr. Shawn Larrimore made the announcement
Sunday evening. Dr. Larrimore cited the ongoing search for suspects and concern for student and staff safety as reason for the cancellation of classes.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to our students and their families affected by this incident, and we hope for a swift resolution to this ongoing situation," Larrimore wrote in a post shared on Facebook.  "We understand the challenges and anxiety that such events can bring, and we are committed to providing support and resources to our students, families, and staff members in the days ahead."

It is unclear if any of the teenage male victims were students in the Laurel School District.
