Wilkerson sentenced to life in prison.

GEORGETOWN, DE - A Sussex County Superior Court Judge sentenced  Randon Wilkerson to 2 life sentences plus 212 years and 30 days behind bars.  spend the rest of his life behind bar today.

Wilkerson was convicted of the 2021 murder of Delmar Police Officer Keith Heacook. The 32-year old, was found guilty on all counts including first degree murder in October.

Wilkerson will now be returned to the Sussex Correctional Institution to begin his sentence.

Judge Craig Karsnitz previously took less than two hours of deliberation to reach the guilty verdict in the October trial, in which graphic body camera footage was shown from a Wicomico County Sheriff’s officer who responded to the scene of the attack on Heacook.

Wilkerson waived his right to a jury trial in September.

For Delmar, it has been a long wait to finally see justice served, and neighbors can hopefully begin the process of healing.

"Every time we have to go back and revisit, it reopens the wounds,” Delmar Police Chief Ivan Barkley told WBOC ahead of the sentencing. “I know it does for us. I know it does for his family and friends. So every bit we can put behind us is just one step further."
