EMMITSBURG, MD - A local volunteer firefighter killed while responding to a crash on Rt. 9 near Georgetown last year is being recognized and honored at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial today.
Thomas Wilson Berry III died on August 13, 2024 when, off-duty, he stopped to assist the drivers involved in a crash on Lewes Georgetown Highway. While he was helping the drivers, a utility pole snapped and brought down electrical wires. Berry was killed in the incident.
