Maryland State Police: Unattended, Idling Vehicle is Invitation to Thieves

CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- Maryland State Police said a trooper helped save someone's life when he responded to a call and gave a man CPR for nearly 10 minutes.

It happened around 9:30 a.m. Saturday at a home on the 1900 block of McGinnes Road, where troopers responded to call of an unconscious man in cardiac arrest.

MSP said Trooper Tucker arrived before EMS and found a woman attempting to perform CPR on the man, identified as Franklin L. Jester, who was laying in the garage.

Police said Trooper Tucker immediately took over CPR and did so for about nine minutes before EMS arrived.

Jester was taken to Kent General Hospital. The Crumpton Volunteer Fire Department said the victim survived because of Trooper Tucker's actions, MSP said.
