HARTLY, Del.- A man has been arrested following two shootings in Kent County.

Delaware State Police say the shootings happened in the area of Slaughter Station Road in Hartly on July 30 and Aug. 13. Police say that in both shootings, gunfire hit a home with people inside. No one was hurt.

Troopers say while they were on the scene Thursday, more shots were heard and the rounds hit tree branches. Investigators say the shots were coming from a home nearby on Judy's Truck Drive.

State police say they found Dakota Carey, 24, of Hartly, with what appeared to be a gun and he was arrested.

Carey was taken to Troop 3, where he was charged, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and released after posting a $26,500 secured bond.

He was charged with:

  • Discharge a Firearm at a Dwelling (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony) – 3 counts
  • Reckless Endangering 1st Degree – Creates a Substantial Risk of Death to Another (Felony) – 7 counts
  • Possession of a Firearm While Under the Influence – 2 counts
  • Criminal Mischief under $1,000 – 2 counts
