SOMERSET COUNTY, Md. - The Somerset County Sheriff's Office is investigating a string of recent smash and grab burglaries at at least three businesses.
A recent burglary at Hoyt Harbor, a convenience store north of Crisfield saw the suspect smashing the front door and stealing around 200 dollars, according to Police.
Sheriff Ronnie Howard has a message for the suspect, or suspects.
"We're going to catch you eventually, we will. Shortly, but we'll get you."
Howard says it's unclear if the burglaries are all connected.
"They are smashing the front windows of the doors and going in and stealing any change that could be on the counter or tip jars," he said.
At Gordon's Confectionary in Crisfield, a suspect smashed in the window and stole some change, the change divider from the cash register and a Tastycake.
Owner Kevin Evans is frustrated a criminal would target his family business that has been in operation in the community for nearly 100 years.
"It's extremely frustrating. One of the things that you know is our security is we're right on top of the street, right on the top of highway, keep it lit up in there. And you know have to be someone really desperate and have to move very fast," he said.
Evans says his store had security cameras but they haven't been operational for years.
Evans also has a message for whoever did this.
"Get help for yourself and just know that lifestyle's going to lead to nothing but destruction," he said.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
