Delaware Offering Online Portal to Access COVID Vaccination Information

DOVER, De. - As some employers and venues are requiring proof of vaccination, it's important now more than ever to keep that COVID vaccination card handy.

But what if you misplaced yours?

We learned after talking to some viewers in Delaware, this is a common concern, and some have even taken precautions into their own hands.

"I just felt, let me take a picture of it, I took two or three pictures of it, in case that I do lose it, or my car gets robbed and it's in my car, and somebody takes it. I just felt like it was a lot easier, I care my phone all the time, so I can have that for proof," explained Mary Colon of Dover.

If you didn't take a photo like Mary and you lost that precious piece of paper, there's no need to worry. The state is now offering a digital portal for people to obtain a copy of their vaccination status. All you need to do is head to Delaware's coronavirus site and click 'misplaced my card.' You will be prompted to put in your name, birthdate, gender, and an email or phone number to confirm your identity. Once you verify the information, you can download a copy of your vaccination status record for safe keeping to a person device.

Those we spoke with today agree it's a helpful backup plan.

"That would be great, because then you can put it somewhere, keep it in your records, something like that. So yeah, it's great in case I lose my own, because I'm always misplacing things. So yeah, it would be good," Annie Thompson told us.

The system doesn't come without hiccups; at least three WBOC employees tried to test it out and could not access the information. We reached out to DelVAX@delaware.gov to confirm our information, and then were able to access the portal. DPH says this could happen if a phone number or email was transcribed wrong during the vaccination process, but is an easy fix. You can also call DelVAX at 800-282-8672 if you are running into a problem accessing your information.
