Virginia Senate moves to Censure Lawmaker over Capitol Riot

WASHINGTON, D.C.-- A Laurel father and son have been indicted by a federal Grand Jury after taking part in the Capitol insurrection on Jan. 6.

According to the indictment, both Kevin and Hunter Seefried are charged with breaking into the capitol, engaging in disorderly conduct, and unlawfully parading on the federal grounds. The younger Seefried, Hunter, is facing more charges than his father. Kevin Seefried made national headlines for carrying a Confederate flag through the Capitol halls.

Hunter Seefried has been charged with three additional counts for his alleged role in breaking a window to help rioters get inside.

A statement of facts issued after the Seefrieds were originally charged noted that Kevin and Hunter Seefried were identified after the FBI received a report from a coworker of Hunter Seefried relaying that Hunter Seefried had "bragged about being in the Capitol with his father" on Jan. 6, 2021."

The official counts are as follows for the father and son: Obstruction of an Official Proceeding, Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds, Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds, Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol building, Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol building. Hunter's additional charges include Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds with Physical Violence Against Property, Destruction of Government Property, and Act of Physical Violence in the Capitol grounds or building.

In the past, Department of Justice officials said both Kevin and Hunter Seefried were facing a maximum six months in prison on the Violent Entry and Disorderly Conduct on Capitol grounds charge and 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 for Knowingly Entering or Remaining in any Restricted Building or Grounds Without Lawful Entry.
