MILFORD, De. - The Fowler Beach area of the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge announced they will close entirely as of April 19, for the 2019 beach-nesting season.

The closure includes the bay beach, dunes and back-barrier portions, all as a benefit to the federally and state protected shorebirds that nest on those beaches.

Refuge officials say all access to the beach is prohibited and the beach is expected to officially re-open on Sept. 1 for full use by wildlife dependent visitors.
