DEWEY BEACH, Del.- Police arrested two men after a fight in the parking lot of the North Beach Restaurant.
According to the Dewey Beach Police Department, on June 16, at approximately 1:00 a.m., a fight that began in the parking lot of the North Beach Restaurant and extended into the adjacent Ivy Restaurant parking lot on Dagsworthy Ave.
Officers arrested and charged Hunter Schmidt, 25, of Milford, Del., with third-degree assault and Kyair Benson, 21, of Middletown, Del., with offensive touching.
During the course of the investigation the North Beach Restaurant closed and hundreds of patrons began traveling east on Dagsworthy Ave. towards Coastal Highway.
Police say numerous fights broke out in the crowd, which officers say began to show aggression towards police and refused to disperse.
The Delaware State Police, Rehoboth Beach Police and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources Police (Parks and Recreation) responded and assisted with crowd control.
No officers were injured during the incident and no victims reported injury to the Dewey Beach Police Department.
