MILFORD, Del.- Senator Carper toured two Milford schools on Friday that use computers donated from the Computer to Schools program at the U.S. Senate.
The program allows senators to donate surplus computers to public schools in their home states. Senator Carper saw the computers at Milford Central Academy and Milford High School.
"One of the ways particularly younger people learn today is through the help of technology," Carper explains.
Milford Central Academy Principal Gary Zoll agrees.
"In this day and age with all of the technology that we have, we need as many computers as we can get.," he tells WRDE.
This is the first school year the new computers are being used at the Milford schools, and faculty says they're seeing a difference. Over at Milford High School, the students can use the computers during and outside regular school hours.
"Students who have access to this technology in conjunction with learning with teachers will complete the other class requirements," says Sen. Carper. "They'll graduate. They'll have a chance to have the sort of skills that will make them employable."
Senator Carper says all Delaware schools who communicate a need for additional computers are eligible to benefit from the program.
