Updated: Fire Damages Lighthouse Restaurant in Dewey Beach

DEWEY BEACH, Del.- Authorities are continuing to search for the cause of a late Thursday night fire that heavily damaged the Lighthouse Restaurant on Dickinson Street in Dewey Beach.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office said the fire broke out shortly before 10 p.m. and involved the structure and boardwalk area under construction. 

The Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company arrived on the scene and found heavy flames coming from the structure. Mutual aid fire companies assisted at the scene. 

State fire investigators were called to the scene and performed an investigation

to determine the fire’s origin and cause. The cause of the fire remains under

investigation at this time. 

Fire damage is estimated at $750,000. There were no reported injuries. Any

On Friday morning, Lighthouse Cove Development Company, which owns the property, said in a statement, "We are devastated by the news of last night’s fire at the Lighthouse Restaurant in Dewey Beach. Thankfully, the majority of the damage was confined to the restaurant, and the remainder of the redevelopment, including the Hyatt Place hotel, Residences at Lighthouse Cove, and Lighthouse Cove Event Center, remain intact. Most importantly, there were no injuries sustained."
