Bed and Breakfast Opens its Doors in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md.- The Gillis-Grier house, located on North Division Street, is now operating as Salisbury's very first bed and breakfast.

The three-story home has rich history as it was built in 1887. Charleen Burik owns the home with her husband John, and says she grew inspiration after visiting a bed and breakfast in upstate New York at a Victorian Inn. After falling in love with it, she came back and mentioned the idea to her husband.  "I thought this would be a great opportunity where he could relax a little bit and then I can keep busy so I looked for Victorian houses for sale and this was on of the first ones I saw," said Burik.  Burik purchased the home in September of 2018, and after seeking approval from the zoning board this past April, they were able to open their doors this month.  "That was the goal was to have this house be seen and utilized by everybody that wants to come into this neighborhood..it was meant to be filled with laughter." This bed and breakfast has three bedrooms available with one shared bath which can accommodate about six guests.  However, Burik doesn't want to limit it to just a bed and breakfast. She looks to expand it and host Victorian tea parties, and have open tours for the public to see this historic home. For more information visit: https://www.gillisgrierbnb.com
