FRUITLAND, Md.- Authorities say a lightning strike is to blame for a Tuesday night fire that caused thousands of dollars in damage to a Fruitland mobile home.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said it happened at around 8:30 p.m. at a single-wide mobile home located at 4010 Meadow Bridge Road.
A neighbor reported the fire, which took 25 fire fighters from the Fruitland Volunteer Fire Company nearly an hour to get under control.
The fire caused an estimated $15,000 in damage to the structure and another $1,000 in damage to is contents.
There were no reported injuries. Deputy state fire marshals said they have not yet been able to identify the owner of the home.
