SNOW HILL, Md.- After a police raid Thursday in a West Ocean City neighborhood, two brothers taken into custody as fugitives from justice were in court Friday.
Basel and Samir Ramadan appeared in court via video Friday for a bond review.
The Department of Homeland Security says search warrants were served at their homes on Whisper Trace Drive in the Oyster Harbor development on Thursday morning.
The brothers were arrested after that raid and face charges as fugitives from New York.
Back in 2015, the Ramadan brothers were convicted of a massive illegal cigarette operation. The ringleader, Basel Ramadan, was sentenced to 12 years in prison. There is still no word on if Thursday's arrests are connected to that case.
In Friday's court action, both brothers waived their rights to be extradite. The state of New York now has 10 days to pick them up and decide their fate.
The daughters of the Ramadan brothers, Munya and Danya Speih said they're sick and tired of being called terrorists based off their ethnicity.
"I feel like people should understand that we go to school with your kids, we play sports with your kids," Speih said. "We've all grown up together and it really hurts when people you've known your whole life are posting things on Facebook, making comments and really not understanding the situation."
Many of the details surrounding the raid still remain a mystery.
The Ramadan children told WBOC "Our fathers have been wrongfully accused of a crime based on their past convictions, ethnic background and religion."
