SALISBURY, Md.- A judge has sentenced a Salisbury woman to prison after a jury convicted of theft for stealing thousands of dollars in cash deposits from her employer.
According to the Wicomico County State's Attorney's office, Maryann C. Bradley was convicted of one count of theft after a two-day jury trial in the Circuit Court for Wicomico County.
In June 2017, owners of the Fountains reportedly began investigating accounting irregularities in which cash deposits for events were being paid by clients to Bradley, the sales manager, but the cash deposits were never deposited.
Upon investigation, the owners discovered that Bradley had received multiple cash payments but never gave them to the owners to be deposited.
Authorities say Bradley further altered the business’s records in an attempt to conceal the theft.
Within a six-week period of time, Bradley stole more than $18,000 from the Fountains, according to court records.
Judge Leah J. Seaton sentenced Bradley to the maximum sentence of five years.
