OCEAN CITY, Md.- It's only June and tempers are boiling over in Ocean City.
Some comments on social media in response to people losing patience over short-staffed businesses at the beach:
"I don't know why anyone feels the need to be rude and hateful," and "People have forgotten how to interact in reasonable and considerate ways."
"When people get impatient they don't tip well and we've had experience at large tables that girls have been working very hard on leaving very small tips," said Bob Phalen, general manager of the Frog Bar & Grill.
Phalen even says a $150 table once left about a $10 tip -- a far cry from the customary 15-20%.
Kevin Myers, owner of Bad Monkey in Ocean City, says while he hasn't seen many rude customers, they are working to prevent the bad eggs.
"The thing is everything is going to take longer and it's not going to be like it was before, but we're working really hard for that," he said.
Phalen says he just hopes things change for the better as the season rolls on.
"We're here to eat, drink and be merry, so come in, enjoy yourself, relax," said Phalen.
