Wicomico County Sheriff's Office Reopens Unsolved Murder Case

Stephanie Moore, mother of Stefon Hagans, speaks to the media.

SALISBURY, Md.- The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office is reopening an unsolved murder case.

Stefon Hagans, 31, was shot and killed at around 2 a.m. Dec. 14 at his home on the 1700 block of Dale Lane in Salisbury. Hagans was rushed to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he later died. The Sheriff's Office is hoping that reopening the case will provide closure for Hagans' family.

Hagans' mother says that she still doesn't understand why someone would have wanted to harm her son.

"I don't know why people would.. I don't know who did it or why you know but you need to do the right thing and turn yourself in," she said.

Sheriff Mike Lewis and his investigator's held a press conference Wednesday urging the community to help his team find the final pieces to the puzzle.

"We can't do it alone," Lewis said, "we need our community to work with us to bring closure to this family and this investigation."

Hagan's mother says that she's "glad for pictures" so that her son's children, especially his 17-month old daughter, can see just what kind of man he was.

Lead investigator Detective Corporal Jordan Banks says that there is a reward being offered for Hagans' murder and that anyone who comes forward with a tip leading to an arrest, may remain anonymous if they so choose.

Anyone with information can contact the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office at 410-548-4891 and are told to ask for Det. Cpl. Banks.
