WBOC's Andrew Tawes Becomes an "Outdoor Recreation Ambassador" for the State of Maryland

SALISBURY, Md.- Outdoors Delmarva's own Andrew Tawes has become an Outdoor Recreation Ambassador for the state of Maryland.

The Maryland Department of Commerce and Maryland Department of Natural Resources presented Tawes with the award in Salisbury.

Tawes is apart of 18 Marylanders from the public and private sectors who have been named as the state’s first Outdoor Ambassadors.

The program is apart of the Maryland Outdoor Recreation Economic (MORE) Commission, which was established by Governor Larry Hogan in 2017 to develop strategies and make recommendations to strengthen the state’s outdoor recreation industry.

The Commission also highlights how the outdoors can positively impact revenue coming in for local businesses and revitalization.

Tawes will work to enhance the state's status as a leading destination for recreation.
