Kayak Rental

SEAFORD, DE  The City of Seaford has given the green light for a new venture that allows locals and visitors to rent kayaks directly on the Nanticoke River. The Watershed Alliance brought the idea to City Council, and is looking to be operational by the spring or early summer of 2024.

The Kayak Rentals, from company "Rent.Fun" will give customers the convenience of scanning a QR code, unlocking a cage, and finding a kayak ready for use right on the river.

Councilman Matthew McCoy says it was a no-brainer, as the city is looking to bring more family and community activities in,

"During the spring and summer time, if you want to get out, enjoy the wildlife, and appreciate the river – what better way than on a kayak?" said McCoy.

McCoy says the Nanticoke River as a key asset for Seaford, and as the city continues to welcome in more businesses, it's a great opportunity to bring more visitors in,

"The fact that we have the Nanticoke River in our backyard, we’ve wanted to and have made a concentrated effort to focus on that river going forward." added McCoy.

Some neighbors like Kevin Quailes, who frequents Soroptimist Park – one of the potential kayak rental sites, says he'd love to see it,

"It takes away from the technology for a little bit, takes you away from your phone, gets you out and about into nature."
