CAMBRIDGE, Md. - The Cambridge Police Department has arrested a man from Seaford, Del., following an alleged sexual assault early Sunday, according to court records acquired by WBOC.
According to charging documents, police were called to Greenwood Ave in Cambridge on Aug. 16 just after 1:30 a.m. on reports of a fight with handguns involved. Upon arrival, police say they encountered a large crowd of people running away and a car attempting to leave the gated community. Police stopped the car and made contact with the driver Isaiah Jones, of Seaford.
While speaking with Jones, authorities say a woman ran up to them and accused Jones of sexual assault and having her beaten afterwards.
The woman then told police she had contacted Jones earlier that day seeking a ride from Chestertown. Once Jones picked her up, the victim said he brought her to Cambridge, stopping at an event on Pine St. before bringing her to a home on Greenwood Ave.
There, the victim claimed Jones brought her to a room in the back of the house despite her insistence that she was not interested in sex. According to police, Jones sexually assaulted her and prevented her from leaving the room. Jones also threatened to have the victim attacked if she continued to “waste [his] time,” court documents read.
Investigators say when the victim was eventually able to leave the house after repeatedly refusing Jones’ advances, Jones allegedly instructed a group of women outside to “jump her.” The victim told police that a group of women then assaulted her, allegedly kicking her in the head multiple times and causing her to lose consciousness.
According to court documents, Jones is currently being held without bond and faces the following charges:
-First-degree rape while threatening death or serious physical injury
-Third-degree sex offense while threatening death or serious physical injury
-First and second second-degree conspiring to commit assault
-Reckless endangerment
-False imprisonment
-Second-degree assault
A preliminary hearing is currently scheduled for Sept. 10 in Dorchester County District Court.
