DAUGHERTY, VA - The Tasley Volunteer Fire Department along with other first responders were at the scene of a small aircraft emergency in Accomack County, Virginia last night.

According to the Fire Department, a small aircraft ran off a grass runway into a soybean field Tuesday night just before 6:30 p.m near Daugherty, east of Onley. Fire and EMS responders from Tasley, Onancock, Parksley, and Melfa were reportedly all on the scene of the accident.

The aircraft was secured and crews inspected it for fuel leaks. EMS responders took one patient to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock for minor injuries, according to the Tasley Volunteer Fire Company. 

First responders took about an hour to clear the scene, which was turned over to Virginia State Police. VSP did not immediately respond as to the cause of the crash or current condition of the pilot.
