Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal

CAMBRIDGE, Md. - The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal has ruled a house fire that displaced three people and eight pet dogs in Cambridge on Tuesday as accidental.

According to officials, the fire started around 11:50 p.m. on June 30 at a home on Central Avenue during a cooking accident. It took 45 firefighters just under an hour to control the flames.

One person suffered a minor burn injury during the fire but was treated by EMS on the scene and refused transport to the hospital, according to the Fire Marshal. Luckily, no other injuries were reported.

Total monetary loss was estimated at $130,000.

The Maryland Fire Marshal says the American Red Cross is now assisting the displaced neighbors and their dogs.
