DOVER, DE - Neighbors came together over the weekend to pick up trash and debris to help tidy up The Clearview Meadows and Stoney Creek development communities.

Volunteers met Saturday morning, November 4th, by a dumpster on the Access Road in Stony Creek and launched their Community Clean-Up efforts.

The Community Clean-Up event was spearheaded by Dover Councilman Brian Lewis, who said the trash accumulating in the two Developments had been an issue for years.

Neighbors in the community agreed with Lewis that it was increasingly becoming a problem.

“It’s a whole bunch of garbage,” Dover neighbor Aquia told WBOC. “Put your stuff in the garbage, it's not hard to do that.”

An assortment of trash, from medical waste to alcohol bottles reportedly littered the area.

Lewis says he coordinated with the group Keep Delaware Beautiful and State Representative Sean Lynn in bringing the clean up effort to Sony Creek and Clearview Meadows. Volunteers included development residents, DSU fraternity members from Omega Psi Phi, and community service organization The Fairy God Sisters of Delaware, among others.

Lewis says he hopes the event will inspire similar efforts in other communities and help deter dumping.
