Burn Ban

EASTERN SHORE, MD - Officials in Maryland and Delaware have issued county-wide burn bans to take effect Wednesday.

VIRGINIA

Accomack County, North Hampton County, and the Town of Chincoteague are now under a temporary burn ban as of Nov. 7. Officials say the ban will be in effect until further notice.

DELAWARE

state-wide ban was issued in Delaware as much of Delmarva continues to see moderate drought conditions. On October 28th, the Delaware State Fire Marshal updated the ban to include the retail sale and use of fireworks.

MARYLAND

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is implementing a statewide ban on open air burning beginning Nov. 1.

DNR officials say the extremely dry conditions persist across the state and have led to an above average number of wildfires statewide, and conditions are not expected to change in the near future.

They say the ban will remain in effect until the Maryland Forest Service determines the state has received enough precipitation to reduce the threat of wildfires statewide.
